Sofia Named Best City Break in Europe for 2027

Sofia takes first place in the European Best Destinations ranking, highlighting its growing appeal as a leading European city break destination.

The recognition follows a public voting campaign that attracted 11,614 participants over 33 days. The selection began with 64 destinations pre-selected by independent travel journalists, with the ten destinations receiving the highest number of votes making it to the final ranking. Sofia secured the top position.

The distinction highlights Sofia’s unique character as a city where thousands of years of history meet a vibrant contemporary lifestyle. Its rich cultural heritage, architectural landmarks, diverse culinary scene, distinctive local experiences and lively urban atmosphere offer visitors plenty to discover.
